Parker Stevens - Head Coach
Parker is a graduate of UNCW with a major in Communications and a minor in Leadership Studies. While at UNCW Parker played Rugby (95-97) and Club Baseball (97-99). Following college, Parker worked as a teacher at East Chapel Hill High School and was an assistant football coach and the head JV baseball coach. While living in Chapel Hill he also worked during the summers as the Facility Manager for the Durham Dragons, a member of the Women’s Professional Softball League. After marrying his wife Susanna in 2002, they returned to Wilmington and Parker resumed his call to coaching at Topsail High School. In 2018, Parker retired as a player with the Wilmington Rangers (NC) and the Dundalk Nationals (MD) and plans to stay connected with the sport through teaching and coaching within the Thunder Organization. Parker is also an Assistant Softball Coach at Laney High School. Professionally, Parker is a contract insurance examiner serving various state and federal agencies. He is currently enrolled at Liberty University pursuing a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling and hopes to one day serve on a church staff helping the congregation in their times of need. Parker and Susanna have 2 girls, Isabella and Juliana, both of which share their passion for the game of softball.
Susanna Stevens - Assistant Head Coach
Susanna attended Quince Orchard High School (MD) where she was a four year starter on their softball and field hockey teams. While at Quince Orchard she was selected to the All-Conference teams and received numerous school awards. Susanna was recruited to play softball at UNCW. While at UNCW she was a four year starter on the softball team and was their Captain for two of those years. She also received their Silver Bat Award and was twice selected to the Big South All-Conference team. Susanna had a .308 career batting average and upon her graduation from UNCW held six school records. (Career Record: Double. Single Season Records: At-Bats, Runs Scored, Hits, Total Bases, and On-Base Percentage.) She graduated UNCW with a degree in English. After college Susanna lived briefly in Maryland before returning to Wilmington with her husband Parker. Professionally, Susanna is a contract insurance examiner for various state departments of insurance. Susanna enjoys most all sports, horseback riding, volunteering at church and spending time with her friends and family. Susanna and Parker have two girls, Isabella and Juliana, along with their two dogs Bear, and Coal.
